we? A K-8 Dual-Immersion Charter school where subjects are taught in both
English and Spanish. Lao is also taught. Research shows significant cognitive

Bilingualism: Students are taught to not only speak, but to
read and write in two languages with native-like proficiency, becoming both
bilingual and bi-literate.
Multiculturalism and Peace Builders: WALA creates a focus on
other cultures. We teach the value of cultures from around the world. Peace
builders’ is a nationally acclaimed program that teaches the values of
nonviolence, conflict resolution and creative relationship-building; crucial
qualities for today’s young people.
Welcome Parental Involvement: Parents volunteer in educational,
recreational and cultural activities, helping to build the warm atmosphere that
is descriptive of WALA. Small class sizes and strong teacher contact.
